The past few days have been quite eventful. Monday and Tuesday I was in Okayama city for a two day orientation. It was great to finally meet all the JETs from around the prefecture, covering countries from UK, America, South Africa, Canada and New Zealand! I went out to dinner on both nights, which both my body and wallet will regret later I'm sure. However, it was the perfect chance to get to know one another and organise sight seeing adventures.
For anyone thinking of coming to Japan, I definitely recommend Shabu Shabu. This is thinly sliced meat that you cook yourself using the hot pot and sauces of your choice. The shabu restaurant we went to last night was an 'all-you-can-eat' too, which makes it too irresistible not to go past your limits!!
Today was a little quieter on my own. However, after two big food nights, I decided it was time for some exercise! Soja offers a beautiful, scenic bike trail called the Kibiji trail. It is a bike tour of some of the historic sites of Okayama. About 5km from Soja city is the Kokubunji temple - a five storey, traditional pagoda. It was so peaceful and surrounded by green. It truly stood out amongst the hills of rural Soja.
After returning home, I've noticed now that I am terribly sunburnt! Fortunately, I was well covered and only my forearms and neck received the worst. Needless to say, I'll be off to get some aloe vera shortly!!
In the meantime, check out some of the scenery under my photos tab (at the top).
Matta ne! :)
